International Crimes Tribunal chief prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam said evidence of conspiracy to thwart July-August trial has been found.
On Thursday, the chief prosecutor said, “The prosecution has received a lot of information and evidence to thwart the tribunal's trial being conducted over July-August genocide. At the same time, the masterminds behind it have been identified. Action will be taken against the conspirators in due course.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Tajul Islam said, “The draft investigation report of the case of fascist Sheikh Hasina in the July-August genocide has been received by the prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal. A formal charge will be filed once the final report is received.”
He said on March 27 that the prosecution has received a draft investigation report on the crimes against humanity case in the shooting incidence that killed five people in Chankharpool in the capital on August 5. The report will be submitted to the tribunal soon.
More than 300 charges have been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal's prosecution so far on charges of murder and genocide committed to eliminate the student-public movement, disappearances in the past, and various types of crimes against humanity.
Tribunal prosecutor Gazi M.H. Tamim said, “These charges have been brought to the International Crimes Tribunal's prosecution along with the murder and genocide committed to eliminate the mass movement in July-August, various allegations of disappearances in the past 15 years, and the massacre carried out at Motijheel Shapla Square on May 5, 2013.”
These allegations have been filed against top figures and officials of the previous government, as well as political leadership and party cadres, for their involvement in specific incidents of murder and genocide in the eradication of the student-public movement, and have demanded legal action and trial after investigation.
Prosecutor Gazi M.H. Tamim said that 23 (miscase) cases have been filed so far among these allegations. Arrest warrants have been issued against 145 people in these cases. Of these, about 50 accused are under arrest.
