Although Bangladesh has been planning to build a modern sports village or hub for a long time, it hasn’t happened due to limitations.
Now, the youth and sports ministry has taken the initiative to build modern sports hubs in all eight country divisions with the help of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Youth and sports adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain shared the information on Sunday while addressing a program marking National and International Sports Day.
After the final whistle of a friendly match at the National Stadium, which included underprivileged children, the sports adviser said, “From the beginning, we were thinking of building a central sports village.”
“However, as a part of sports decentralization, it has been decided to build sports hubs in all eight divisions of the country with the cooperation of the UAE,” the adviser continued.
Mentioning the discussion with China on this matter, he said, “The matter was finally settled with the UAE.”
Highlighting that the chief adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus discussed the issue during his visit to the UAE, he said, “Since then, the country expressed its interest in cooperating with us on this project.”
