Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Towhid Hridoy has been handed a one-match suspension, while pacer Ebadot Hossain has received three demerit points and a fine of Tk40,000 for breaching the code of conduct during Saturday’s high-voltage Dhaka Premier League (DPL) encounter against arch-rivals Abahani Limited.
Sources confirmed that both players were found guilty of misconduct under Level 2 offences during the heated clash at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
According to match officials, Hridoy’s suspension followed aggressive behaviour and inappropriate comments directed at the umpires during a tense passage of play in the second innings. The young batter will miss Mohammedan’s next Super League fixture.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Ebadot was penalised for excessive celebration and showing dissent after claiming a wicket. He was fined Tk 40,000 and handed three demerit points, which will remain on his disciplinary record.
The match itself — won by Mohammedan by 39 runs — reignited one of the fiercest rivalries in Bangladesh domestic cricket.
However, tensions between players and match officials boiled over at several points, prompting the BCB to take disciplinary action.
