The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain in several parts of seven divisions, including Dhaka, within 24 hours from 9 am on Sunday.
“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds are likely at one or two places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions,” said a met office bulletin.
Meanwhile, a mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping across Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Khulna divisions, as well as the districts of Dinajpur, Saidpur, Feni, Moulvibazar, Barishal, and Patuakhali, and may continue, the bulletin added.
The weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies in other parts of the country.
Day temperatures may fall slightly, while night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, while a seasonal low lies over the South Bay.
The country’s highest temperature on Saturday was recorded at 38.5 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while Dhaka experienced a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius.
