The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a reduction in the retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Tk 28 per 12-kg container. With this adjustment, the new consumer-level price for a 12-kg LPG cylinder is set at Tk 1,450, down from the previous rate of Tk 1,478, reports UNB.
The price cut, which comes into effect from Sunday evening, is part of BERC’s monthly review and reflects changes in the international LPG market. The commission noted that the reduction applies proportionately to all other available cylinder sizes—from 5.5 kg to 45 kg—ensuring a consistent pricing structure for households and businesses alike.
Officials said the move is aimed at easing the burden on consumers amid rising living costs and ensuring access to energy at fair prices.
