BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said, "BNP first prepared 27 points based on the 19-point of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. Then, 31-point were formulated with the opinions of other political parties.”
He said this while virtually attending the 31-point training workshop organized by Dhaka Bar Lawyers Forum on Sunday.
Tarique Rahman said, "When Awami League brought the country to the brink of destruction, BNP proposed 31- point agenda of reform."
Noting that many of those who have proposed reforms now were not even close to reform, he said, “BNP presented 31 points when no one dared. Many of those who have proposed reforms today were not even close to reform expectations at that time.”
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman also alleged that those who have been vocal in establishing people’s political rights in the last 17 years have been discriminated against.
He said, "No reform proposal can be implemented without political stability in the country. The talkings of some people in the government seem to indicate that they are deviating from their main goal."
He urged for holding elections as soon as possible to bring the country back from the "brink of destruction."
