Former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder has been appointed as the special assistant to the interim government’s chief adviser, Prof Muhammad Yunus.
A notification, signed by Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain, was issued in this regard on Monday evening.
While holding the post of special assistant to the chief adviser, Ali Imam Majumder will enjoy the rank of adviser, and get salaries and allowances as well as other benefits, read the circular.
Born in 1950, Majumder joined the Bangladesh Civil Service on February 11, 1977 as an administration cadre.
He served as the District Commissioner (DC) of Sylhet District and Cox's Bazar District in 1997. In 2004, Majumder was the Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Ali Imam Majumder also served as the former cabinet secretary from December, 6 2006 to November 27, 2008.
