The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), intelligence unit of the central bank, has instructed all banks to freeze all accounts of former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed and his wife Rukhmila Zaman, chairman of United Commercial Bank.
The anti-money laundering agency came up with the instruction under the Money Laundering Act 2012.
The BFIU also instructed all banks so that the couple cannot withdraw any amount of money from their accounts.
All banks have also been instructed to stop all types of dealing through their individual or business accounts under their names.
