Adviser to Home Affairs Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain warned Awami League about counter-coup.
In response to the question that the ousted are trying to organize again in different places, he said, "Don't do anything that will endanger your lives as the people of this country have not yet come to accept you."
The Home Affairs Adviser told reporters while visiting the injured Ansar members at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka Cantonment on Monday morning.
Sakhawat Hossain said, "Whatever you do, do not do anything that endangers your life as the mass people of this country has not yet come to accept you. I rather think you reorganize your party. The party has many contributions in Bangladesh. We cannot deny it. Make contest when the election comes. If the people vote, they will come again."
He said, "People of this country have not forgotten so quickly. Maybe you will forget if you give time. Not forgotten so soon because the leaders who were holding power are now running away. We cannot save the one who is getting held. Many leaders have been saved by many. We know who is where. But instead of doing that, you should rather reform the party. Its a big party, I have a lot of respect for Awami League. But, there is no point in fighting here. We don't want a few more people to die. Already four to five hundreds have died on both sides. This is the situation of the police, also happened to Ansar.”
Sakhawat Hossain said about the counter-coup, "And if someone thinks that by doing such thing, he will come back with a counter-revolution. To make a counter revolution you have to shed thousands of blood again. If you want to take that responsibility, then take it. I have nothing to do.”
