Three people, including a Saudi expatriate, were killed in lightning strikes in Vedarganj and Jajira upazilas of Shariatpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Nadim Munshi, 25, son of Ratan Munshi of Nazimpur village under Vedarganj upazila, Anwara Begum, 5, wife of Moslem Mal of Uttara Mahishar under Mahishar Union and Sifat Mollah, 28, son of Jahangir Molla of Kacharab Kandi village in Barakandi union under Jazira upazila, reports Daily Sun.
Locals said that Nadeem Munshi was seriously injured when a sudden thunderstorm stroke while taking feed to a fish farm on Wednesday afternoon. He was rescued and taken to Vedarganj Upazila Health Complex. But, the on duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the housewife Anwara went to fetch her cow from the field after noticing clouds in the sky. She along with her cow died in the lightning strike at that time.
