Bashundhara Foundation distributed the 65th segment of interest-free loan among insolvent and vulnerable class of people at Durgarampur in Bancharampur under Brahmanbaria on Monday.
The Covid-19 pandemic wreaking havoc on the socioeconomic sector could not prevent the foundation from continuing its financial assistance to the poor.
Being a non-profit and social development platform of the largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, the foundation is engaged in distributing unconditional loans for economic emancipation of the marginal class.
The 65th loan disbursement programme was attended by Bashundhara Group’s Adviser and East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) Publisher Maynal Hossain Chowdhury as the chief guest, reports Daily Sun.
Md Maymun Kabir, DGM of Bashundhara Foundation, Md Akhlakur Rahman, manager of Bancharampur branch of Agrani Bank, Md Chan Miah Sarker, head of accounting dept of Bancharampur Govt College, Md Mosharraf Hossain, manager of Bashundhara Foundation, and Amir Hossain Anwar, senior officer of the foundation, were present.
A total of 700 recipients including 414 old and 286 new received Tk 10,500,000 during the 65th loan disbursement.
Since 2005 the loan has been being distributed by the Bashundhara Foundation at 83 villages of 13 upazilas and one municipality in Bancharampur upazila and three villages in Nabinagar upazila under Brahmanbaria district, and nine villages at Homna upazila under Cumilla district.
Addressing the disbursement, Maynal Hossain Chowdhury said, “Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan always tries to stand by the downtrodden people. Great heart, ample humanitarian approach and efficacy have prompted him to work for the cause of people. The interest-free loan is aimed at bringing economic emancipation and welfare of the insolvent people.”
