Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Sahab Uddin on Friday said the government is in strict position against the hill and hillocks cutting as hill and hillocks are prerequisite for biodiversity and protecting natural balance, reports BSS.
"Legal measures are underway and will be continued against those who are being involved with cutting hills and hillocks", he said following laying foundation stone of six-storey building for the Rangamati divisional forest officials.
Huge afforestation works would be carried out at the hilly areas as 25 per cent forest are needed as per the target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), said the minister, adding "the development of eco-tourism which would be benefited the local people and also would rejuvenate life at the nature and environment of the hill areas."
