Today marks the 31st death anniversary of Umme Kulsum, mother of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan.
On this occasion, Bashundhara Group remembers the greatly admired woman with profound respect and also takes various programmes to observe the day.
The death anniversary is being marked with qurankhwani, doa mahfil and distribution of food among the destitute. Umme Kulsum was an ideal housewife. Her husband Alhaj Abdus Sobhan had been engaged in legal profession for around 50 years. The couple had been blessed with two sons and four daughters.
Her eldest son, Abdus Sadek, is a noted sportsman while the youngest son, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, is a renowned industrialist.
The children and grandchildren of the highly-revered businessman, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, are contributing a lot to the socio-economic sectors of the country.
Umme Kulsum was born in Pahariakandi village under Banchharampur Upazila of Brahmanbaria in 1920. Besides caring for her husband, she made every effort to raise the children properly.
She was motherly, simple and ever-smiling and one of her best attributes was to show much care and equitable treatment to everybody. In her personal life, she was religious and benevolent.
