A man has surrendered himself to the police after allegedly killing his wife at Ghashipara in Dinajpur town on Friday, reports BSS.
The man who surrendered is Manowar Hossain, 33, resident of Gurgolay area of Dinajpur, and the deceased is Sumaiya Akhter, 27.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Tanvirul Islam said that Sumaiya, daughter of Abdul Khalek, resident of College para in Sujalpur area under Birganj upazila of the district got married to Manowar a month ago.
Manowar lived on the third floor of a rented house in the area and the victim is his second wife.
On Friday night, Manowar strangled Sumaiya to death and kept the body in a wardrobe of the house for about 14-hours, OC said.
Later, he went to the Kotwali police station and surrendered to police at around 12.30am.
Police recovered the body from the house and sent it to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
Police is trying to unearth the motive behind the killing, the OC added.
