The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has approved five projects on Monday, with a total estimated cost of approximately Tk 5,915.99 crore, reports UNB.
Of the amount, Tk 1,095.94 crore will come from the government, Tk 4,787.50 crore will be financed through foreign funding and Tk 32.55 crore will be from the respective organisations' own funds.
The approval was given in a meeting chaired by the Chief Adviser and Ecnec Chairperson Dr Muhammad Yunus held at the NEC conference room at the Planning Commission.

During the press briefing held after the ECNEC meeting, Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud shared the details of the approved projects.
The approved projects are: Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources: “Eastern Grid Network Expansion and Capacity Enhancement” project; Ministry of Education: “Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship” project; Ministry of Shipping: “Modern Waste and Oil Spill Removal Management at Mongla Port” project; Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives: “Chattogram Sewerage System Development Project (Catchment Areas 2 & 4)” project; Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief: “Emergency Multi-Sector Rohingya Crisis Response Project (2nd Revised)” project.
Besides, two projects have got their implementation periods extended, without any increase in their budgets.
These initiatives are part of the government’s broader efforts to support infrastructural development, improve capacity-building in various sectors, and respond to urgent humanitarian needs.
