Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that if the law enforcement agencies had taken action in the clash between students of Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Molla College and Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy College in the capital's Jatrabari, more bloodshed would have occurred.

He said this in a status posted on Facebook on Monday.

Asif Mahmud said, "Despite hundreds of attempts and calls to resolve the issue by talking with them, the students didn’t refrain themselves from getting involved in the clashes. Seeing the aggressiveness and preparedness of the students, the law enforcement agencies also did not take strict action. If any action was taken, there would have been clashes and bloodshed between the law enforcement agencies and the students."

He said, "I urge all parties to keep patience. It is regrettable to engage in reprehensible acts like clashes at a time when we are building a country together. Appropriate legal action will be taken against those involved in this incident."
