Foreign Secretary M Jashim Uddin said that the current interim government led by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is committed to upholding the ideals by ensuring national unity, equal opportunities and respecting all linguistic and cultural identities.
“The interim government is emphasizing on promoting multilingualism, preserving endangered languages and creating an environment to ensure linguistic diversity,” he said.
He said this at a discussion and cultural program organized at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Friday to mark Language Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day.
Speaking as the chief guest at the program, Foreign Secretary M Jashim Uddin said, “The July-August 2024 revolution in Bangladesh and the supreme sacrifice of the youth have provided a unique opportunity to establish equality and justice and eliminate all forms of discrimination, including cultural exploitation. I pay tribute to them on this historic day for creating opportunities for a developed Bangladesh.”
He said that this day brings an auspicious moment for all of us all over the world, to remember the known and unknown figures in every culture, every ethnicity living in every corner of the world who have contributed and sacrificed in countless ways and struggled to protect and uphold their cultures.
“At the same time, regardless of our national identity, we, as members of a universal human race, should be forever indebted to those unsung heroes for the culturally diverse world we now live in,” he added.
