Department of Environment (DoE) in the district on Wednesday seized 235 Kilograms of banned polythene, reports BSS.
The operation was carried out around 2 pm in collaboration with the Jhenaigati Upazila Administration.
During the drive, a mobile court led by Jhenaigati Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ashraful Alam Russell fined the owner of Farid Store, Md. Farid Mia, TK 5,000 for selling the prohibited material.
DoE Inspector Sushil Kumar Das of Sherpur district office was also present during the drive.
According to mobile court sources, Farid Store had been illegally selling banned polythene in the Jhenaigati Upazila Market, violating government rules.
