President M Abdul Hamid on Wednesday called upon the people's representatives to gain people's trust by ensuring good work with dedication and utmost sincerity.
"Work with dedication and sincerity to attain people's trust," he told a view-exchange meeting with the representatives of various classes and professions, including the elected local leaders, at the 'Rashtrapati Abdul Hamid Auditorium' in Mithamoin in the evening, reports BSS.
The Head of State said the foremost task of the people's elected representatives is to work for welfare of the people.
"You (local representatives) must attain their (mass people) trust and confidence," he added.
Referring to the local development activities, Abdul Hamid said, "It is not only mandatory to accept and implement development projects, but also to ensure people's benefits of the development."
Members of Parliament (MPs) Md Afzal Hossain and Rezwan Ahammad Taufiq, Bangabhaban secretaries and senior military and civil officials concerned were present there.
Earlier, President Hamid arrived here this afternoon on a three-day visit.
He is scheduled to address another gathering at Itna Upazila Thursday evening.
The President will also visit various development works there and under-construction Mithamain Cantonment on Friday.
