Shuvosangho, a leading social welfare platform of Bashundhara Group, has arranged an essay writing competition in Rangabali Upazila of Patuakhali, to raise awareness about the danger of polythene, which poses a serious threat to the environment.
With a call to avoid the use of polythene and to build a pollution-free country, the event was held on the Rangabali Model High School premises around 12 noon on Tuesday where over 50 students of the school took part enthusiastically.
The Shuvosangho Rangabali branch organised the event with a view to discuss the environmental impact of polythene and to stop its use.
In a brief session, the participants also discussed many harmful impacts of the polythene and outlined some recommendations to stop the use of the harmful plastic substance.
Md Nasir Uddin Nesar, headmaster of Rangabali Model High School, spoke at the session as the chief guest, with M Sohel, the Shuvosangho upazila unit coordinator, in the chair.
Kamrul Hasan, president of the Rangabali Upazila Press Club, Mahsin Talukdar, a NGO worker, Rangabali Model High School assistant teachers Supriya Rani Das, Anamul Haque, Manas Kumar Shikder, Shilpi Begum and Bashundhara Shuvosangho School teacher Jhilam Tawhid, among others, also spoke at the event.
Among the participants in the essay writing competition, Ayesha Siddika Jinia secured first place, Rodela Taha took second, and Mainul Islam won third place, all of whom were awarded by the guests. Additionally, all contestants received awards at the end of the event.
