Another murder case was filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 49 others for killing a student during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Sutrapur area of the old Dhaka on July 19.
The victim's mother, Kulsuma Akhter, submitted an application to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tarikul Islam's court on Tuesday morning appealing to lodge a murder case against 50 accused, BSS reports.
Accepting the plea, the court ordered Sutrapur Police Station to record the statement of the plaintiff and register the complaint as a first information report (FIR).
Awami League general secretary and former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, former foreign affairs minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, former advisor to the ousted prime minister Salman F Rahman, former state minister for information Ali Arafat, former textile minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, among others, were made accused in the case.
According to the case statement, victim Omar Faruk, a student of Kabi Nazrul College, was shot dead by police during a protest on July 19.
