Former water resources minister and ex-MP from Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar Upazila) constituency, Ramesh Chandra Sen, has been detained and taken into custody by the Detective Branch (DB) of the police, reports UNB.
He was detained from his residence in the Ruhia area of Thakurgaon around 11 pm on Friday and taken to Dhaka by a DB team. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ruhia Police Station, Gulfamul Islam Mondal confirmed the matter.
The DB team took Ramesh away, and they only assisted them, said the OC.
The OC did not say why Ramesh was detained.
The head of DB in Thakurgaon (OC) Anwarul Islam said that none of their teams were on duty. He stated that he was unaware of the details regarding the detention of Ramesh Chandra Sen.
Ramesh’s wife, Anjali Sen, said that a team of 10-12 people in plain clothes took him away in a car. She could not say who took him or where he was taken.
