Police have filed a case against 8,000 unidentified students of different colleges in the Jatrabari area of Dhaka for their alleged involvement in carrying out vandalism and thieving of a magazine loaded with bullets.
Sub-Inspector AKM Hasan Mahmudul Kabir filed the case with Sutrapur Police Station against the students of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College, Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
According to the case statement, around 7,000 to 8,000 students of the three colleges staged demonstrations illegally with lather weapons, created riots and vandalised public properties.
They also stole a magazine loaded with bullets and damaged an APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) used by the on-duty police personnel and damaged it badly during the clashes on Monday.
The unruly students carried out attacks on on-duty police officers and issued them death threats, it reads.
It is mentionable that scores of people were injured as students of three colleges -- Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul College and Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College clashed at Dhaka's Jatrabari on Monday, turning the area into a battlefield.
Six platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in the capital’s Jatrabari-Demra area to maintain law and order following the fierce clash.
