Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum said the interim government will try to hold elections around December.
She said this after visiting the Companiganj Upazila Health Complex in Sylhet on Saturday.
The Health Advisor said, “The country’s health system is in a fragile state. Initiatives will be taken to reform the health sector on a priority basis once the report of the reform commission is received.”
“The national elections will be held as per the roadmap announced by the Chief Advisor. However, the elections may be delayed if the people want more reforms,” she added.
In the morning, she visited the Companiganj Upazila Health Complex in Sylhet. During this time, she visited the overall medical system of the hospital and spoke to patients and their relatives. Later, she criticized various projects taken in the past, describing the medical system as fragile.
Meanwhile, the Health Advisor participated in a view-exchange meeting with teachers at the Medical Education Conference Room of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and said that it has been recommended to reduce the additional duty on medicines. Following the report of the reform committee, action will be taken against those involved in corruption and irregularities in the country's healthcare sector in recent years.
