The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers in parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions within 24 hours from 9:00 am on Friday.
“Rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” said a met office update.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies, according to the BMD.
Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country, and the prevailing heatwave may persist, the update added.
Meanwhile, a mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over the Rajshahi division and the districts of Tangail, Manikganj, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Jashore, and Chuadanga, and it may continue.
The highest temperature in the country over the past 24 hours, till 6:00 pm on Thursday, was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi. The lowest temperature, 22 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Tetulia till 6:00 am on Friday.
A trough of low lies over West Bengal to the North Bay, across the southwestern part of Bangladesh.
