Football fans' dreams have begun to spread around Hamza Choudhury, the English footballer of Bangladeshi origin who plays for Leicester City. Bangladesh team captain Jamal Bhuyan also believes that Hamza's presence will have a big impact on Bangladeshi football.
This defensive midfielder, who grew up in England, may make his debut in the first match of the Asian Cup qualifiers coming up in March. Expectations are skyrocketing around that match against India! Jamal Bhuyan also considers Hamza's inclusion a huge deal.
The first part of the BFF-AFC 'A' Diploma Coaching Course began on Saturday morning. Jamal, Mamunul Islam and several former footballers participated in it. Jamal spoke to the media after the inaugural ceremony of the course.
There, he opened up about Hamza: “Hamza's inclusion is a big deal for the country as he is playing at the highest level— in the English Premier League. So, if there are three or four more players including Hamza in our team, isn’t it good for the country! If Hamza comes, it’s obviously good for everyone.'
Jamal has been out of competitive matches since last September.
He did not play two friendly matches against Maldives last November due to family reasons. He was not with any team in the first phase of the Bangladesh Premier League. He did not get a chance in any foreign league either. So how is this midfielder passing this time?
Jamal says, “I have been in Denmark for so long. I have played and practiced in a local club there.”
When asked if he will be seen in any team in the second half of the season, Jamal replied, “I will be able to tell you that within the next ten days. Discussions are underway with the clubs.”
