A travel risk warning has been raised for US citizens in Dhaka in response to the ongoing protests across the country against the Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The US Embassy in Gulshan issued the warning in a statement on Monday.
The US Embassy said that university students in Dhaka and across the country will demonstrate on Monday in response to the Gaza conflict and will turn into a central mass protest. Due to possible increased traffic congestion and protests at the embassy, the US Embassy will limit public services this afternoon. In this situation, US citizens should exercise caution.
The embassy also said in the statement, it should be remembered that even peaceful protests can turn into clashes and violence. In this situation, US citizens should avoid protests and exercise caution when moving around any large gatherings. They should also review their personal security plans. In addition, you should be aware of your surroundings, including local events, and monitor local media for updated information. In this regard, the US Embassy has advised US citizens in Dhaka to avoid public gatherings and protests and to always carry a charged mobile phone for emergency communications.
