Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh Yousef Ramadan has expressed gratitude to the people for taking to the streets protesting the Israeli massacre in Gaza.
In a statement on Monday, the ambassador said he is not surprised by the greatness of the people of Bangladesh as he closely followed the protest movement and demonstrations that swept most of the major cities, especially the capital Dhaka, in solidarity and support for Palestine and its people, for the great Gaza and its legendary steadfastness, and in denunciation of the fascist practices pursued by the racist Israeli occupation against defenceless children and women.
“I was not surprised by the actions and authenticity of the Bangladeshi people who sanctify freedom and dignity and know their meaning very well,” he said.
“Today, through these protests, the people of Bangladesh have sent several messages to Palestine and the world, saying to Palestine, and specifically to the people of Gaza, that you are not alone, and that we are with you and behind you, living your pain and your hopes, and we will not abandon you no matter the cost, and we will remain so until you regain your land and freedom.”
The Palestinian ambassador said Bangladeshis’ message to the world is that there is no place for injustice, hypocrisy, or double standards and Dhaka will not accept injustice and will not forgive those who commit it.
He said that Bangladeshis have entered Palestinian history through its widest gates and they will not leave it.
“This is an honor for us as Palestinians. We will not forget your nobility and we will not forget your humanity.
“As long as the people of Palestine have noble people like the Bangladeshis behind them, they will never give up their just struggle and their fight against injustice until they achieve freedom, dignity, and the right to reside in their homeland peacefully,” Yousef said.
He also conveyed a promise of the Palestinians to their Bangladeshi brothers and sisters that they will never give up nor bow down to any coloniser, whether from the East or West.
“We will continue to resist until Palestine is free,” the ambassador added.
