Mentioning that the interim government won’t rule the country for long days, Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (retd) M Shakhawat Hossain called upon the people not to elect thieves in the upcoming election.
“Reformations are needed in some places. Probably, we won’t rule the country for long days. But, you don’t elect the thieves,” he said.
Shakhawat Hossain made the remarks while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Chowdhury Kamal Uddin Launch Ghat at Dhalchar under Monpura Char Kolatoli Union of Bhola on Saturday.
He said, “You all have observed and informed that the country’s crores of taka have been laundered. If this money remains in the country, the country would have a development one. Now, we have to think first before doing any work. Corruption has reached a level where it has mixed with the blood of the fraudsters.”
The adviser also said, “Currently, Tk 200-300 is needed to buy a product of Tk 100. Now you think who will be helpful to you.”
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) chairman Commodore Arif Ahmed Mostafa, Monpura Upazila Executive Officer Pathan Mohammad Saiduzzaman and Monpura Police Station officer-in-charge Ahsan Kabir Hossain were present at that time.
