Electoral Reform Commission chief Badiul Alam Majumdar emphasized on making political arena free of criminals.
He made the statement on Saturday at Cumilla when he was addressing a symposium organized by “Cumilla Bachao Mancha”.
“The dictatorial fascists must not return and take seats in parliament. And the political arena must be cleaned, he said, adding: “Those criminals who have killed people, who have committed extrajudicial killings, who have committed various forms of oppression and torture, who have committed crimes against humanity, must not be included in any political party.
“They must not play a role in any politics. We must take care of that.”
He said the commission made recommendations to ensure that only eligible people get the opportunity.
“We have made many recommendations to keep the ugliest people away. Hopefully the government and political parties will accept them. Through that, we will move towards a beautiful future,” he furthered.
