Police arrested Asaduzzaman Hiru, who claims to be the foster son of Awami League senior leader Obaidul Quader, in a case over the July-August civilian killings ordered by Awami League government.
Gulshan Police Station Inspector Arafatul Khan told reporters Asaduzzaman was arrested in the early hours Thursday, and would be produced before the court with a remand plea within hours.
There are allegations that Asaduzzaman facilitated fund transfers to help Awami League goons attack and kill anti-fascist activists in July-August last year.
He also embezzled huge sum of money by using his ties to then road transport minister Obaidul Quader.
