Gono Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque Nur said, “I want to tell the Indian authorities – stop the game you started after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Otherwise, it will not be good for you.”
“I will request the government to provide military training to the people living near the border and if necessary, they will also work with the BGB. Still, action must be taken against Indian hegemony,” he said.
He said, “Today, there was a shootout with the Indian BSF at the Chapainawabganj border. They have made an attempt to erect barbed wire fences on our various borders. They are trying to occupy some of our lands because Sheikh Hasina’s government had given them opportunities to become free rider. But our clear message is that as long as we are alive, the 18 crore people of this country will not allow India to occupy even an inch of our land.”
He said this at a rally held at Gangachara Upazila Multipurpose Auditorium Hallroom in Rangpur on Saturday afternoon in memory of the martyrs and injured in the mass uprising of 24 with the determination to build a Bangladesh free of discrimination.
About the Awami League, Nurul Haque Nur said, ‘The Awami League is now a dead body. In no way can this Awami League be given the opportunity to do politics anymore. Because, if the Awami League returns somehow, it will create a more terrible situation than the hellish violence they have committed from 2009 to 2024. Now, Sheikh Hasinaism has been established. The unity that existed between the anti-Awami League parties before August 5 has been shattered. The more cracks there are between the parties, the sooner fascism will have a chance to return.’
At the same time, Faruk Hasan, senior vice-president and spokesperson of Gono Odhikar Parishad, announced Hanif Khan Sajib, the higher councilor of the party and Rangpur divisional organizational coordinator, as the candidate for the next election in Rangpur-1 constituency.
