The trailer for Naisha, India's first AI-powered film, was officially unveiled on YouTube a month ago. The film is now slated for a theatrical release in May 2025.
The AI-film stars virtual characters Naisha Bose and Zain Kapoor in the leading roles.
The trailer gives audiences a glimpse of the film’s futuristic narrative, showcasing the integration of artificial intelligence in filmmaking.
Directed by Vivek Anchalia and produced by Pori Bhuyan, Shweta Sharma Anchalia, and Joseph Franklin, Naisha aims to transform the art of storytelling by seamlessly blending AI-generated visuals and characters.
The film's plot follows Naisha, of Bengali and Mizo heritage, and Zain, a stand-up comedian, rapper, and swimmer, whose lives intertwine. Naisha falls for Zain, but he doesn't reciprocate, dismissing the concept of love. They eventually part ways, with Naisha later rising to fame as a leading actress.
The story delves into what transpires between them after their separation.
Vivek Anchalia, known for directing Tikdam on Jio Hotstar and co-writing the Netflix Original Rajma Chawal, views Naisha as a major leap for Bollywood’s exploration of AI. "With Naisha, we’re combining human storytelling, Indian music, and the technological marvel of AI to create something that resonates with a wide audience. While cinema has evolved through technology, AI allows us to go beyond what was once considered impossible," Anchalia stated in a recent interview.
The film also features a stellar musical lineup, including compositions by Daniel B George, the acclaimed composer of Andhadhun and Johnny Gaddar. George has created two captivating tracks for Naisha—"Manmaniyaan" and "Ruhaniyaan," both sung by Madhubanti Bagchi.
Additionally, Protijyoti Ghosh and Ujjwal Kashyap have composed the songs "Cheater Saiyaan" and "Jaane Kahan," respectively.
Naisha marks a pioneering step in the fusion of AI with Indian cinema, setting the stage for a new era of filmmaking.
