The government has approved a grant of Tk 1.5 billion for treatment of 15,000 injured in the July Uprising.
This information was revealed in a letter published on the website of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
In a letter sent by the deputy secretary to the chief accounts and finance officer of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Wednesday, it was stated that in the current (2024-25) fiscal year, under the budget of the Finance Department, in favor of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, from the 'Unexpected Expenditure Management Sector' under the code 120016601, 'Support for the families of martyrs and assistance for the treatment of the injured in the July Uprising', Tk 232 crore 60 lakh has been allocated to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs under the code 'Support for the families of martyrs and assistance for the treatment of the injured in the July Uprising', and Tk 1.5 billion has been allocated for the treatment of the injured in the July Uprising.'
In terms of treatment of the injured, 1,000 people in Category 'A' will receive Tk 200 million , each at 2 lakh. In Category 'B', 3,000 people will receive Tk 3 crore 30 lakh, 1 lakh each. In Category 'C', 4,000 people will receive Tk 1 lakh taka, totaling Tk 40 crore. In Category 'D', each person will receive Tk 50 thousand each, and 7,000 people will receive a total of Tk 35 crore.
In addition, a grant of Tk 25 crore taka will be given to the injured for counseling services at home and abroad.
The letter asks the finance and expenditure officer of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs to withdraw the Tk 150 crore through the appropriate bill and deposit it in the current account opened at Sonali Bank PLC, Ramna Corporate Branch under the name 'Support to the families of martyrs in the July Uprising and medical grant program' and take necessary measures to provide medical grant to the injured in the July Uprising.
The letter mentions that in the case of the martyrs' families, monthly profit-based savings certificates of Tk 10 lakh each will be purchased and handed over, which will be cashable on maturity. All prevailing financial rules and regulations and regulations must be followed properly in spending this money. A policy should be issued to ensure transparency in the expenditure of funds allocated for assistance to the families of martyrs and medical grants to the injured in the July Uprising.
