The media will face shutdown if they indulge in flattery, Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Interim Government's Ministry of Home Affairs, said on Sunday.
He made the remarks while briefing the media after visiting injured police members at the Rajarbagh Police Hospital at 12:30 pm.
Sakhawat Hossain said, “There is no knowledge-rich discussion in Talkshow. Media presents correct information. A country will sink only when the media does not tell the truth.”
The advisor said, "If you indulge in flattery, you will face a shutdown. I promise you if the media is flattering then the media will be closed.”
He said, "If the media had presented the facts at that time, the police would not have been in this situation. The media repeatedly said nothing happened. But I saw everything on the BBC.”
He also said, "The former Minister of State for Information is an educated person but he called students criminals. These should be judged. Media owners should also be tried.”
