Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Bangladesh. President Sahabuddin Ahmed appointed him to this position on Saturday night.
This information is confirmed from the sources of Bangabhaban. Earlier, Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam was announced as Acting Chief Justice but the protesters rejected his appointment.
Earlier, Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan and five judges of the Appellate Division submitted their resignations letters. An officer told the media that they submitted their resignations to the Ministry of Law on Saturday.
