The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has issued an ultimatum to the interim government to appoint High Court judge Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed as the Chief Justice by 6:00 pm on Saturday.
Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, issued the ultimatum when the government published a gazette notification appointing Ashfaqul Islam, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, as the acting Chief Justice.
“The newly appointed Acting Chief Justice, Ashfaqul Islam, is an associate of the fascism. Both students and citizens reject his appointment,” he said in a statement in the afternoon.
