State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said that a meeting will be held with mobile operators on Sunday (July 28) to resume mobile internet and 4G.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Trees for Peace' program held with a view to plant one lakh trees across the country on the occasion of Sajib Wazed Joy's 54th birthday at Daak Bhaban of Agargaon in the capital on Saturday.
Palak said, “A decision will be taken to resume mobile internet tomorrow Sunday after a meeting with mobile phone operators.”
Stating that the mobile internet will be opened soon, the state minister said, “We will have a meeting with MToB tomorrow at 9 am. If the outcome of the meeting is satisfied, the 4G mobile network will be opened on Sunday or Monday.”
He said, “We did not shut down the internet. The internet was shut down due to burning of three data centers and hundreds of kilometers of cable. Because of this, there has been a loss of Tk 500 crore in the telecom sector alone and hundreds of crore of Tk in total.”
