The country’s jewellery sector has been revamped due to pragmatic steps taken by Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir.
This was said by Enamul Haque Khan Dolan, former president of BAJUS, at a view-exchange meeting with Narsingdi unit leaders and stakeholders at a district venue on Monday.

“We are proud of getting him (Sayem Sobhan Anvir) as President. He is working relentlessly to bring all jewellers under an umbrella. The gold traders have already started to benefit from his leadership. They will see more changes in the days to come,” they said.
Former BAJUS chief was of the opinion that “Made in Bangladesh” gold bars to be exported soon.
“BAJUS President is optimistic about seeing jewellery sector an integral part of the national economy by 2041. The contribution of gold traders is expected to be vital like some other sectors,” he added.
Terming Narsingdi industrially enriched area, he said “Many renowned businessmen of the country have hailed from this district which is an ideal place for jewellery industry also. We can establish such industry accumulating fund from cooperative society.”
About role of BAJUS, he said the organisation is trying to ease import and export of gold, apart from removing tax and VAT related complications.
He called upon jewellers to operate business following guidelines of the BAJUS to maintain discipline in the sector.
Masudur Rahman, vice-chairman of BAJUS Standing Committee on Law and Membership, said gold is regarded as the second currency in any country. Gold carrying ‘Made in Bangladesh’ logo will be exported under leadership of our President Sayem Sobhan Anvir.”
