Bangladesh Pratidin, the highest circulated Bangla daily in the country, held its anniversary programme on Sunday amid festivity as it stepped into the 14th year of its publication on Wednesday.
Patrons and well-wishers of the daily attended the celebration programme at International Convention City Bashundhara (Noborattri Hall) in the capital. They shared the joy of success of the Bangla daily.
The presence of a galaxy of personalities, including ministers, politicians, academics, celebrities, businesspersons, members of civil society and media people, adorned the event.
They started joining the programme at 11:00 am and greeted Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and and Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam with bouquets.
Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam moderated the event while Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haq Milan, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Banglanews24.com Editor Jewel Mazhar, Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Mohammad Ali, and Banglanews24.com Deputy Editor Tapan Chakraborty were also present on the occasion.
Awami League Presidium Member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, in his speech, greeted all concerned on behalf of Awami League on the founding anniversary of the country's most circulated daily Bangladesh Pratidin. Bangladesh Daily has added a new dimension to the world of newspapers, he added.
Besides, Bangabir Kader Siddique Bir Uttam, Jatiya Party leader GM Quader, Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Awami League leader AFM Bahauddin Nasim, BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, BNP leader Zainul Abdin Farooque, DAKSU former VP Nurul Haque Noor, DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq and DB chief Harun-ur-Rashid, among others, attended the event.
Besides, actors Shakib Khan, Apu Biswas, Abdun Noor Sajal and Nader Khan others were present.
Earlier, the daily started celebrations of the 13th founding anniversary by lighting 13 candles and cutting a cake at the daily’s office premises in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital Tuesday evening. Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir inaugurated celebrations.
To mark the occasion, East West Media building has been decorated colourfully along with installing lighting system.
Bangladesh Pratidin started its journey on March 15, 2010 with a slogan of Amra Jonogoner Pokkhe (We are in favour of the people) and eventually earned huge popularity among readers at home and abroad, reports banglanews24.com.
