Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said that free, fair and impartial elections are necessary for the stability of development and progress in the country.
She said, “Now there is no chance of vote rigging as we have given voter list with pictures in NID card. There is no opportunity to vote with fake voters. We wanted to vote in EVMs, many objected. The Election Commission will use EVMs as much as possible. Voters will vote through the use of modern technology.”
Sheikh Hasina said this at a press conference at Ganobhaban on Monday afternoon, summarising his recent visit to Qatar.
The prime minister said that development has been possible because the democratic process continues in the country, and said that Awami League works with a sense of responsibility towards the people.
Sheikh Hasina said, "We have proved that development takes place when there is political stability." Sometimes you have to listen to criticism. After Awami League came to government, we opened everything. Even sitting abroad, many criticize us. That opportunity has come about due to the development of information technology. We did it. Whatever anyone says, we will develop from confidence and sense of duty.”
