Police on Sunday arrested eight persons and recovered Tk 2.54 crore in connection with Tk 11.25 crore heist from a microbus on its way to refill DBBL's ATMs in Savar, reports BSS.
Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police chief Harun or Rashid said members of Detective Branch (DB) conducted raids in different areas of Dhaka, Sylhet and Sunamganj and arrested them on Saturday night.
"Acting on a tip-off, we conducted raids and arrested the eight persons with the money," he said at a press conference at DMP Media Centre Sunday noon.
Robbers snatched Tk 11.25 crore kept in three to four boxes from a vehicle of private security agency hired for transporting the money to DBBL ATMs, around 7:15am on Thursday, when it was on its way to refill ATMs in Savar.
Immediately after the incident, police arrested seven people for questioning, including two directors of the private firm and the driver of the microbus. They also recovered Taka 3.89 crore out of Taka 11.25 crore.
Operation is going on to recover the rest of the amount, police said.
