Bashundhara Shuvosangho's Natore district unit has organised an awareness campaign on dengue and chikungunya at Kathuagari Darus Sunnah Dakhil Madrasa to raise public awareness about the prevention of the mosquito-borne diseases.
Students, teachers and members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho took part in the programme held on Thursday.
During the campaign, participants were informed about the symptoms of dengue and chikungunya, the causes of infection, preventive measures and the importance of eliminating Aedes mosquito breeding sites.
The organisers also highlighted the need to keep homes, educational institutions and surrounding areas clean to reduce the risk of infection. Students were encouraged to raise awareness among their family members and neighbours.
Addressing the event, Bashundhara Shuvosangho Natore district unit President Md Mostafizur Rahman said awareness was the most effective tool in preventing dengue and chikungunya.
"If students take the initiative to keep their homes and surroundings clean from today, the risk of these diseases can be significantly reduced. Everyone must work together to build a healthy society," he said.
General Secretary Sushmoy Das said Bashundhara Shuvosangho is working not only on social issues but also to promote public health awareness.
"There is no alternative to regular cleanliness, removing stagnant water and taking personal precautions to prevent dengue and chikungunya. We believe young students can help spread this message to every household," he said.
Teachers at the madrasa praised the initiative and called for such awareness programmes to be organised regularly to help protect students' health.
