The gold prices jumped again in the local market on Friday. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices for the second time in two days, citing an increase in the price of pure gold in the domestic market.
Under the latest revision, the price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk4,374 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new price to Tk 228,556 per bhori, including VAT. The revised prices took effect from 10:00 am on Friday.
In a statement, BAJUS said the latest adjustment was made after the price of pure gold, also known as acid gold, increased in the local market. The association said the new rates were determined after considering the overall market situation.
According to the revised price list, 21-carat gold will now cost Tk 218,292 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been priced at Tk 187,440 per bhori. The price of traditional-method gold has been set at Tk 153,148 per bhori, all inclusive of VAT.
The latest increase comes just one day after BAJUS revised gold prices on Thursday (2 July). On that occasion, the association raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting it at Tk 224,182, including VAT.
The previous price revision had also set the rates of 21-carat gold at Tk 214,093 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk183,883 per bhori, and traditional-method gold at Tk 150,232 per bhori. Those prices became effective from 10:00 am on Thursday.
The consecutive price hikes reflect the continued upward trend in the domestic gold market, driven by rising prices of raw gold.
