Bashundhara Group, through Shuvosangho, has provided sewing machines and saplings to 30 trained underprivileged women in Monohardi, Narsingdi, aiming to promote self-reliance.
The program took place at Monohardi Auditorium on Friday evening, with Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain as chief guest and writer Imdadul Haque Milon as special guest.
Mahbubur Rahman Monir, Central Adviser of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, inaugurated the program. Bashundhara Shuvosangho Monohardi Upazila Branch President Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman chaired the The program. The program was also attended by Upazila Executive Officer Muhaimin Al Jihan, Bashundhara Shuvosangho Director Zakaria Zaman, Monohardi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sajeeb Mia, Monohardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Badsha, Monohardi Upazila BNP Member Secretary Md. Aminur Rahman Sarkar Dolon, Municipal BNP Member Secretary Abdul Hannan and Monohardi Government Pilot High School Assistant Teacher Md. Babul Mollah.
The beneficiaries said that along with free training, new employment opportunities have been created for them by getting the sewing machine. Women who have been waiting for a permanent source of income for a long time are seeing this initiative as a new prospect in their lives.

Beneficiary Achia Akhter said that by using this sewing machine, she wants to change her own destiny and ensure the financial well-being of her family. She expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Group and said that such initiatives for the development of backward women in the society are truly commendable.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Director Zakaria Zaman said that skilled sewing machines are being provided to rural women through training to make them self-reliant in a sustainable manner.
“In the last three years, more than three thousand sewing machines have been distributed across the country. In addition, Bashundhara Group is standing by the helpless people through various social and humanitarian activities and this activity will continue in the future,” he added.

Earlier, various programs including distribution of sewing machines have been done in Shibpur and Monohardi as well as standing by the helpless people. In the future, such activities will be conducted in more areas of the district.
Writer Imdadul Haque Milon said, “The main goal of this program is to make women self-reliant through skill development and create new opportunities for family income. Trained women can play an important role in the economic development of their families by starting sewing work at home or on a small scale. In the future, there will be opportunities to establish themselves as small entrepreneurs.”
Speaking as the chief guest, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain said that in addition to government initiatives, private organizations should also come forward to build a beautiful society.
“Bashundhara Shuvosangho is playing that responsible role. Along with sewing machines, the initiative to distribute tree seedlings will also play a positive role in preserving the environment.”
He said that women can earn income through sewing machines and share family responsibilities. This will not only improve the financial condition of the family but also help build the future of their children.
The minister also said that initiatives have been taken to launch 10-bed kidney dialysis units in every district hospital of the country. Similarly, 10-bed dialysis facilities will be launched in the upazila health complexes in phases. Election promises are being implemented step by step and the remaining promises will also be implemented quickly.
