Five people, including three students, were killed in separate road accidents in Sirajganj and Bagerhat on Monday morning.
In Sirajganj, three students were killed after an unidentified vehicle rammed a motorcycle in Mannanagar area on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway.
Two of the deceased were identified as Sujan, 21, son of Helal Uddin of Nandanpur village in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi, and Alamgir Hossain, 22, son of Barek Sarkar of Dhulkhagrakhali village in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj.
The vehicle hit the motorcycle on which they were to go to Natore from Sirajganj in Mannannagar Cooperative Oil Pump area at 7:00am, leaving the tri dead on the spot, said Badrul Kabis, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Police Station.
He said, “We learned that all the victims were students of Natore City College”.
In Bagerhat, two people were killed after a truck hit a parked truck in Kakdanga area in Fakirhat upazila.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mollahat Highway Police Station, said that the truck hit the Dhaka-bound sand-laden truck coming from opposite direction on Khulna-Dhaka highway, leaving the two labourer of the truck dead on the spot.
