Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) has introduced a media award to encourage journalists to write informative, investigative and research-based reports on the country’s jewellery industry.
The trade body will recognise a total of 12 reports in four categories -- Bangla and English, online newspaper and television -- with the ‘BAJUS Media Award’, said a press release on Thursday.
Three journalists from each category will receive gold medals worth Tk 1.5 lakh, Tk 1.25 lakh and Tk 1 lakh respectively.
A jury comprised of eminent journalists will select reports on different issues, including local jewellery industry in the context of global economy, implementation of gold policy, quality of ornaments and design, potential of export and competitiveness, contribution of jewellery to economy, opportunities and challenges in investment, revenue management and policy issue, harassment and efforts to fight smuggling.
Contents must be published between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
A journalist can apply in a single category only. In case of series reports, it will be considered as a single report. For newspapers and online portals, there should be submitted one original copy of the report with supervisor’s attestation and composed copy in word file.
Applicants have been urged not to mention the name of reporter and newspaper and any kind of attestation in the composed file.
For television report, the submission should be in compact disc, including reading part of news presenter. The report should include a script in word file and introduction letter from news editor or chief reporter of the channel.
An applicant should share a brief biodata, including a passport size photo, mobile number and email address for professional use.
The reports should be submitted in person or by post to the following address -- BAJUS Media Award 2023, Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association, Level-19, Bashundhara City Shopping Complex, Panthapath, Dhaka-1215.
The deadline for the submission is July 15, 2023.
