Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained two persons and recovered 4.089 kilogram of gold from their possession in an area close to Rudrapur border in Sharsha upazila under Jashore.
The arrestees are Md Yakub Ali, son of Anarul Islam of Amlai village under Sharsha upazila, and Md Atiar, son of Nur Baks Biswas of Goga village under the upazila.
A team led by 21 BGB Commander Lt Col Tanvir Rahman took strategic position at an area 500 yards away from 22 R pillar of main pillar 17/7 acting on intelligence report.
They suspected movements of a private car and a motorcycle. Sensing presence of BGB, two persons fled away. BGB managed to apprehend two other smugglers from the spot.
BGB recovered 35 gold bars measuring 4.089kg of which estimated value is around Tk 4 crore.
