To inspire and empower teenage girls through sports, Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a friendly football match in Pirojpur's Swarupkathi upazila.
The event took place on Sunday at the Swarupkathi Government Pilot Model High School field, featuring teenage players from a local women’s football academy.
Nasir Ahmed Rafique, a noted athlete and football coach, has established a football academy for underprivileged teenage girls from different educational institutions in Swarupkathi. He provides free training along with essential gear such as jerseys and footballs. Thirty players from the academy participated in the match, divided into the "Yellow Team" and the "Red Team."
The event was graced by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Moniruzzaman as the chief guest, who commended the initiative for supporting girls' physical development alongside boys.
In the match, the "Yellow Team" secured a 2-1 victory, with Reshma being named the best player.
Teachers, local dignitaries, and Shuvosangho representatives were present, with trophies and medals distributed to the champion and runner-up teams.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho pledged to continue such initiatives for the betterment of the community.
The event, chaired by Md Alamgir Hossain, the head teacher of Akhlam Muslim Secondary School and vice-president of the upazila unit Bashundhara Shuvosangho, was attended by Sima Rani Haldar, head teacher of Swarupkathi Government Primary School; Aminul Islam Talukdar, senior teacher at Swarupkathi Government Pilot Model Secondary School; teacher Emam Sikder; Hazrat Ali Hiru, Kaler Kantho correspondent and advisor to the upazila Shuvosangho; and football coach Md Nasir Ahmed Rafiq.
To ensure the successful completion of the event, several individuals played key roles, including SI Alamgir Hossain from Nesarabad Police Station; Subrata Hawladar, Joint General Secretary of the Upazila unit Shuvosangho; Mostakin Billah Raju, Organisational Secretary; Ruhul Amin, Assistant Finance Secretary; Mugdha Hasan, Assistant Cultural Secretary; Umme Kulsum Hasi, Women Affairs Secretary; Munia Sharif Muna, Assistant Women Affairs Secretary; and members Ramzan Ali Rakib and Rimi Islam.
