Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Friday held a health awareness session for women in Bhashantek slum area of Mirpur.
Organised by Shuvosangho's Mirpur Thana unit, around 50 women from different neighbourhoods participated in the session.
Addressing the event, senior members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho discussed various aspects of women's health, focusing on raising awareness about reproductive health, breast cancer, menstrual hygiene and mental well-being.
They said, “Women's health is not just an individual responsibility but is closely linked to the well-being of the entire family and community. A healthy woman can foster a healthy family, and ultimately, a healthy society.”
“Unfortunately, women's health is often neglected. Many still lack adequate knowledge about reproductive health, breast cancer, menstrual hygiene, and mental health. In many areas, discussing these issues or seeking proper treatment is still considered shameful. However, with increased awareness, these challenges can be prevented,” they added.
Teachers of Bashundhara Shuvosangho School Selina Akhter, Tania Akhter, and Bithi Akhter; members of Shuvosangho Kafrul Thana unit Rufaida Akhter, Rafia Tasnim, Fauzia Faisal Flora, Umme Raihan Tahera, Boni Akhter Kotha, Swapna Akhter Sumaiya, Nabiha Nawal, Rifha Nanjiba Abika, Wali Ullah Khan, Sakib Sadman Tahsin, Nazmul Hasan Maruf, and Sajibul Islam Mohsin, among others, attended the event.
